The tree of Kratom is indigenous to these countries and there are various methods to consume it, but the best is to make it into a cup of tea.

What is Kratom?

Kratom is so popular in tea varieties that you might’ve heard about it, but what is it? Kratom is a tree indigenous to a few South-Asian countries that grow up to 80 feet and its Latin name is Mitragyna speciose. However, there may be a difference between how different countries pronounce it. You would be surprised to know that Mitragyna speciose is a flowering plant found in Coffee also. What sets it apart is that it can be consumed differently whether that be leaves crushed into tea or Capsules, it depends upon you.

Things to know:

Mitragyna speciose has compounds that are active alkaloids. mitragynine and 7-hydroxy mitragynine, are naturally occurring plant chemicals present in leaves. The first thing you should be concerned about is how to retain the alkaloid nature of the leaves. To preserve the compounds, let the water in the pot cool down for a minute, and then add the leaves. This will keep the alkaloid nature intact. For further, you can squeeze a lemon to your powder or leaves to help with keeping the compounds consistent. The basic rules of tea apply to it. The more you boil, the stronger the tea becomes.

Kratom tea

– Medium or large pot, – 4-6 cups water (or 1 liter), – Kratom leaf or powder in desired strain, and – Mesh strainer or cheesecloth.

As it goes in any tea, put the water in the pot and put it to boil gently. However, you need to be careful with the heat before you add the Kratom leaves. Reduce heat, add Kratom leaves, and let it simmer for 20 minutes. Depending upon whether you are using Powder or leaves, you need to follow the next steps. In case of leaves, use a strainer to pour contents into a container for storage. Likewise, in powder, until it settles to the bottom, wait. Kratom can survive for longer periods, so if you are using leaves, keep them after straining.

Things to mind:

Keep in mind that Kratom is bitter. Many people use sweeteners like maple syrup, agave, or honey to help them with the flavor. However, there is another way to do it. If you don’t mind the taste, you can just plug your nose. Depending upon your preference.

People in Asia have prepared tea for thousands of years, but Kratom tea is something that stands apart for its Alkaloid properties. Though there are various methods to consume the plant, making a cup of tea is the best. However, certain people also add alcohol to it during storage due to its capacity of sustaining for longer periods.
